Nurse Practitioners provide direct nursing service in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in hospitals, clinics, or other patient care facilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Applicants MUST be a graduate of an accredited master’s level or doctoral program acceptable to Department of Army that prepares RNs with additional knowledge and skills to practice their clinical specialty. Licensure: Applicants MUST maintain a current, active, valid, unrestricted RN license in at least one U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction. Please cite this on your resume Certification: The APRN will achieve certification by a nationally recognized certifying body appropriate to the specialty area of practice. Certification will be maintained for the duration of the individuals advanced clinical practice. Please cite this on your resume. Specialized Experience: One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience which involves the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties typically performed in the occupational specialty area of nursing. Education Substitution: GS-11: If an applicant meets the basic requirements for Education and Registration/Licensure but fails to meet the required one (1) year of specialized experience; Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education can be substituted. Other Requirements:
Personnel security investigation required. A medical examination is required prior to employment. Hepatitis B immunization is required (direct patient contact). This position is covered by the Drug Abuse Testing Program. Applicant drug testing and random drug testing will be required. Mandatory seasonal influenza vaccinations required annually. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. Direct Deposit of pay is required. One year trial/probationary period may be required. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. If selected, candidate must provide documents for credentialing.
