Army Chaplain Struck by SUV Died
Morning p.t. run lead to fatal injuries for Capt. Billy Shane Stauffer.
The soldier jogging who sustained serious injuries after being hit by a gold colored SUV on Friday, died on Saturday morning.
Capt. Billy "Shane" Stauffer, 46, was struck at 5:20 a.m. while jogging on Rockfish Road in front of Rockfish Elementary School said the Hope Mills Police Department.
According to the report, Stauffer's wife Allyson called the Hope Mills police to report him missing around 10a.m. when he did not return from his morning run. She was taken to the to positively identify her spouse who had been taken into immediate surgery for major damage to his legs.

Stauffer is new to Fort Bragg and was assigned to the 28th Combat Support Hospital at Fort Bragg.
According to Servie, Stauffer had no identification on him and was not able to give the first responders any information.

The soldier was wearing Army-issued p.t. clothing and was near his home running east, on the 4200 block of Edward E. Maynor Drive when he was struck by the SUV from behind, according to the Hope Mills Police report.
Stauffer is survived by his wife Allyson and their children.
No charges were filed since Stauffer was running on the road.
