Military Trial Begins in Texas for First of 12 Instructors Involved in Sex Scandal

On Tuesday a military trial began with one of 12 instructors, over a sex scandal who held leadership positions at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Tx. Nine of the leaders accused were assigned to the same squadron.

Staff Sgt. Luis Walker faces 28 counts, including rape, aggravated sexual contact and multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault. He could get up to life in prison and a dishonorable discharge if convicted according to The Base Guide.com news report.

Expected to testify before the panel of seven military members on the jury are 10 of the female recruits accusing Walker of inappropriate behavior ending in sexual intercourse with 4 of the 10 recruits according to the Air Force charge sheet.

The Army's Fort Jackson is comparable to Lackland AFB is where an airman begins basic training. Typically one in five recruits are female, and 90 percent of the instructors are male.

Six of the 12 instructors under investigation for misconduct face charges ranging from rape to adultery.

Fort Bragg Patch readers will be anxious to see the sentence for the crimes the 12 are accused of, coming off the heels as former Fort Bragg leader, Col. James Johnson did not incur the expected penalties considering the charges of blatant adultery.
