The Governor's race is on in North Carolina and planning is underway for Charlotte, home of the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
Though the North Carolina Primaries were held on May 8, there is still lots of political activity going on in the Tar Heel state prior to the North Carolina gubernatorial election scheduled for November 6, 2012.
The 2012 Democratic National Convention will be held Sept. 3-6 in Charlotte, N.C. at Time Warner Cable Arena. It is expected that Charlotte's hosting of this event will generate more than $150 million forthe city and surrounding metropolitan areas bringing over an expected 35,000 delegates and visitors.
Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, an Arizona Democrat who resigned in January to concentrate on her recovery after an assassination attempt, is expected to take the stage during the DNC according to close friend, Democratic national chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
