Sen. Kay Hagan Seeks to Protect NC Veterans

Concerns growing towards public schools looking to profit off veterans.

North Carolina has a large military and veteran population and Sen. Kay Hagan has been a tireless advocate on their behalf. Currently she has initiated two pieces of legistation to ensure that veterans are not taken advantage of.

Hagan's Protecting Financial Aid for Students and Taxpayers Act – which continues to make progress in the Senate — would help protect veterans by prohibiting all colleges and universities from using taxpayer dollars on marketing, advertising and recruitment.

Hagan also announced last week that she's co-sponsoring a bill to trademark the phrase "GI Bill" to protect veterans from unscrupulous for-profit schools that use deceptive marketing tactics aimed at veterans.
