Sgt. Adam Holcomb Trial to Begin at Bragg Next Week

The first of eight cases to be tried in connection with the 2011 death of Pvt. Danny Chen.

The court martial of Sgt. Adam Holcomb, a Soldier assigned to 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division from Fort Richardson, Alaska, is scheduled for July 24 at 9 a.m., at the Fort Bragg courthouse. The case is docketed through July 27.

Holcomb has been charged with negligent homicide, reckless endangerment,
communicating a threat, assault, two specifications of maltreatment of a
subordinate, dereliction of duty, and four specifications of violating a
lawful general regulation in connection with the death of Pvt. Danny Chen in
Afghanistan Oct. 3, 2011.

If convicted of these charges, the maximum punishment is 17 years and 9
months of confinement, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, reduction in
rank, and a dishonorable discharge from the U.S. Army.

Seven other Soldiers from 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division also face
charges relating to Chen's death and will be tried by courts-martial in the
coming months.
