Sherefe Opens New Downtown Location
The new eatery officially opened on Monday, July 16 for lunch and dinner.
Mustafa Somar is well known in the Fayetteville community and beyond for his authentic Turkish inspired cuisine at Sherefe. While his Ramsey Street location was a destination spot for local foodies, his new larger space downtown has even more ambiance in the 100-year-old building.
The soft opening for friends and longtime supporters attended the preview event on Saturday at the new location, formerly McDuff's Tea Room.
The evening included wine tasting with Old North State Winery at 6p.m. with dinner seating upstairs at 7p.m.

The 114 Gillespie Street boasts outdoor seating, perfect for sipping Turkish coffee and tea watching people strolling by downtown. Inside the 100-year-old building filled with character, awaits a modern Mediterranean themed decor with clean lines, giving it contemporary flair.
The full service bar has limited seating and is the perfect place for a meet up after work or to take advantage of their extensive wine list. Looking for a place to host a lunch meeting? You'll love the private green and brown decorated room with seating for eight. On the wall, in gold, reads a quote from John Lennon: "I get by with a little help from my friends". Upstairs, the new Sherefe location finally has the space to host parties and private functions in the open air room on the second floor overlooking the entryway.

"The tiles are hand-painted tiles from Turkey and an artist came in to do the art inside the restaurant, reminiscent of my home," said Somar. "I don't believe in fortune, but the opportunity aligned for us to get this building".
The $8 quick lunch menu includes old favorites popular at Sherefe like the grilled eggplant pizza. Other items include a Gyro bowl, Greek Chicken wrap, spinich salad, Mediterranean trio or the soup and salad served with warm pita bread.
Mustafa is known for his homemade hearty soups made daily with only fresh seasonal ingredients.
