16 Iredell Residents Hospitalized With COVID-19: ICHD
More than 60 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in central Iredell County since last Friday, according to the health department.
MOORESVILLE, NC — The number of COVID-19 cases in Iredell County grew by at least 114 newly confirmed cases since Monday, the Iredell County Health Department reported Thursday afternoon. The new cases increase the total of known positive cases of coronavirus in the county to 2,063.
As of Aug. 13, at least 16 Iredell County residents were hospitalized for COVID-19 illness, and 20 residents had lost their lives from the virus, according to ICHD data.
Out of the total tally of known cases in the county, 432 residents remained isolated in their homes as of Thursday afternoon and an estimated 1,595 cases were assumed recovered, ICHD said.

As of Thursday, North Carolina had 140,824 confirmed coronavirus cases, including 1,763 newly confirmed cases reported Aug. 13, according to data released by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

Iredell County health officials are grouping cases into three regions of the county: North, Central and South. Here's a breakdown of where cases have been confirmed as of 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13:
North Region (zip codes 27020, 27028, 27055, 28625, 28634, 28636, 28660, 28689 and 28678)
- 441 cases (up from 403 cases reported Aug. 7)
Central Region (zip codes 27013, 28166, 28677)
- 825 cases (up from 758 cases reported Aug. 7)
South Region (zip codes 28036, 28115, 28117, 28125)
- 797 cases (up from 744 cases reported Aug. 7)
Globally, more than 20 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and more than 750,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Thursday. In the United States, more than 5.2 million people have been infected and more than 166,000 people have died from COVID-19.
