- Planning ahead and being prepared is always a good thing. That's why the town of Mooresville has its schedule set and ready to go for 2023, and the town's 150th anniversary. Kicking things off on New Year's Eve night the celebration begins with New Year’s Fireworks—December 31, 2022 to ring in the new year with a very special family friendly event in historic downtown Mooresville. Next its onto the Party Like It’s 1873 Festival & Immersive Experience, which will be held on March 3, 2023. Followed by the Liberty Park Grand Re-Opening, which will be held in June of 2023 and then the Stars and Stripes on Main Parade, in July 2023. The Bands & Brews Event, will kick off fall in September 2023, followed by the Mooresville Motorsports Festival in October 2023 and the grand finale will take place in December 2023 with Classic Christmas in Mooresville. That's why Mooresville Police Department's Crime Prevention and Community Outreach Officer Dave Harding spent a morning last week teaching the staff at Central United Methodist Church preschool Active Shooter Response and lockdown procedures. MPD officers have been hard at work teaching staff at MGSD schools, Langtree Charter and Pine Lake Prep lockdown and active shooter response procedures.
