Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:

  1. Eighty acres for $22 million! That describes the Cornelius family property, on the shore of Lake Norman in Mooresville, that was recently listed with Valerie Dulude and Hanes Walker of Premier Sotheby's International Realty's Charlotte office. The 81.4-acre lakefront property is located off Homer Road and split by Cornelius Road. According to a bizjournals.com article, "the wooded land is surrounded by waterfront homes and is the only parcel available in the area of that size, with direct access to the lake. The property's current zoning is RA, residential agricultural, which can allow for a range of uses."(bizjournals.com)
  2. The first day of school for Mooresville Graded School District is scheduled for August 3. It's not that far away, so drivers be sure to make accommodations. According to a Lake Norman Publications article, "work has begun on a town-funded project where Edgemoor Drive meets Ferncliff Drive – a popular commute connection from Mooresville High School to N.C. 3 (Coddle Creek Road). The project involves replacing a culvert pipe at the bottom of the hill and replacing a six-inch cast iron waterline with eight-inch PVC pipe on Edgemoor Drive between Ferncliff and South Magnolia Street 3. As a result, Edgemoor is closed between Ferncliff and Wedgewood Drive. According to the current schedule, the road closure will continue until Friday, August 19." (Lake Norman Publications)
  3. Diabetes is a serious disease that plagues many! In an effort to educate more about the disease, the Mooresville Public Library is holding a six-week course that seeks to deliver basic and easy-to-understand education about the chronic condition. The course is called Diabetes Navigation. Education topics include an explanation of what diabetes is, what signs/symptoms to look for, and how to manage those symptoms. Sessions are one hour each, and each topic builds on the previous material discussed. Registration is required. Guests must attend all six sessions to receive a very special diabetes cookbook and food scale. (Mooresville Public Library via Facebook)
