Armed Man With Gunshot Wound Found In Iredell Field: ICSO

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A man armed with a small pistol was found with a gunshot wound, lying next to a wrecked car in a field, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office said.

The Dec. 7 incident occurred in the 2900 block of Old Mountain Road in Statesville.

According to a statement issued by the sheriff's office, deputies responded to the scene on Old Mountain Road after receiving a report of a gunshot wound.

When they arrived, they were told that a car wrecked in a field and that its occupant was possibly armed.

"When deputies arrived at the car, the located a male lying on the ground. While searching the
victim for wounds, they located a small pistol in his front pants pocket," ICSO said.

The person who was shot, who was not identified by the sheriff's office, was taken to a medical facility for treatment.

ICSO said the incident is still under investigation, that all parties involved in the incident have been identified, and there is no known threat to the community.
