Here are the top five stories in Mooresville today:

  1. Change is here! According to ESPN, "Bubba Wallace is switching numbers, just like his famous car owner Michael Jordan did. Wallace will drive the No. 45 Toyota for 23XI Racing the rest of the season instead of his usual No. 23." The team announced the move Wednesday. The switch was made because the No. 45 car, previously driven the by the injured Kurt Busch, is competing for the owners championship. (ESPN)
  2. If you’re looking to add a four-legged ball of love and affection to your life, look no further than these Mooresville area shelters for a pet you can take home. About 6.5 million pets are taken in each year by animal pounds nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. However, only around half of all shelter pets are adopted each year, according to ASPCA data. This means millions of animals — some right here in the Mooresville area — are still waiting for their forever homes. With help from our friends at Petfinder, Patch has compiled this week’s list of animals available for adoption near you. Whether you’re looking for cuddles or companionship, one of these animals could be the perfect fit for your family.(Mooresville Patch)
