  1. It's official, according to SpeedwayMedia.com, "23XI Racing announced today that Bubba Wallace has signed a multi-year extension to remain with the team. Wallace joined 23XI in September of 2020 as the team’s inaugural driver, earning 23XI its first NASCAR Cup Series win at Talladega Superspeedway in 2021 and first pole award at Michigan International Speedway in 2022. Wallace, driver of the No. 23 Toyota Camry TRD, has played an integral role in the team’s growth and will continue to do so going forward. In addition to his on-track accomplishments, Wallace has also been involved in various diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts to expand the NASCAR industry and fan base. Wallace has worked on initiatives such as the Dr. Pepper 23XI Speed Institute Tuition Program, Embrace Home Loans’ Wider Path Home/23XI Racing Down Payment Assistance Grant and Bubba’s Block Party, which aims to bring the excitement of NASCAR to a younger, more diverse audience." 2. The Mooresville Police Department has reportedly received a substantial increase in reports of motor vehicle breaking and entering in recent weeks. Detectives have noted these crimes are occurring with unlocked vehicles and items taken include laptops, guns, money and valuables. Detectives report apartment complexes and neighborhoods are the primary areas where these incidents are occurring. Police are suggesting that to help deter crime and protect yourself, always lock your vehicle. Hide valuable items out of sight. Please remove guns from your vehicle. Park in well-lit areas, if possible. MPD also warns that Hyundai and Kia owners are encouraged to take extra precautions due to an increase in vehicle theft with these brands. To report a non-emergency crime, please call the Mooresville Police Department at 704-664-3311. If you have video footage of a vehicle break-in, please contact Det. Richard at crichard@mooresvillenc.gov or Det. Rodriguez rrodriguez@mooresvillenc.gov." (Mooresville Police Department via Facebook)
  3. According to a Mooresville Tribune article, "Karl Alexander Thunberg, 36, of Mooresville, was recently charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and with two counts of failure to appear on unrelated charges. Thunberg is accused of robbing the Hope 1 Tobacco and Vape Shop in the Rocky River Promenade on Sunday. A magistrate set bond at $20,000 on the robbery charge and $8,500 on the other charges. Information from the community led to the arrest. The Mooresville Police Department, in a news release, said community members provided information, and based on that information and investigative work, a search warrant for Thunberg's residence was obtained. Detectives, police said, found evidence related to the robbery. The police department expressed appreciation to the community for the assistance in the case and their continued support of the MPD."
