  1. Two districts and five individual properties in North Carolina have been added to the National Register of Historic Places, according to the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The new listings include Asheboro Downtown Historic District, Aurora Cotton Mills Finishing Plant, Baker-Cammack Hosiery Mills Plant, The Black Ox–Duplan Corporation Mill, The Dallas Historic District (Boundary Increase), The Pilot Mountain Downtown Historic District, Southern Railway passenger car number 1211, Watkins Chapel AME Zion Church and Skyline Lodge in the Highlands vicinity, Macon County.   2. The North Carolina Lions Camp Dogwood, recently received a gift of more $1 million from the South Iredell Lions Club located in Mooresville. According to an article in the Statesville Record & Landmark, the money will reportedly be used, in part, "for the expansion of new construction on the 56-acre facility located on the banks of Lake Norman in the Sherrills Ford area. Camp Dogwood for the Blind and Visually Impaired is a summer retreat waterfront recreation complex and hosts various other waterfront experiences for those residents with disabilities from all over North Carolina." Why not sign up to experience the 1912 voyage of the doomed Titanic through poetry, storytelling, and historical photos with award-winning author Allan Wolf presents an interactive author talk based on his novel, "The Watch That Ends the Night: Voices from the Titanic.” This event will take place at the Mooresville Library on Saturday, June 11 at 3 p.m. See you there!
