Here are the top three stories in Mooresville today:
- In an effort to help get high school students more ready for college and beyond, the Mooresville Public Library is looking for volunteer panelists for its,"What I Wish I'd Known Before College" program. This program is intended to give high school students insight into what college is like for a variety of people. Ideally, the library would like to have commuters, on-campus students, as well as non-traditional students participate in the program. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity please contact the Teen Librarian Megan Mosher at: mmosher@mooresvillenc.gov. ((Mooresville Chamber of Commerce via Facebook)
- Ultimately, it is because of workforce shortages created by the COVID-19 pandemic that Serenity House will be closing its Mooresville home at the end of the month. According to the Mooresville Tribune, "Serenity House, is the only comfort care home in North Carolina. The organization operates in the pastor’s residence for Centre Presbyterian Church. Before Serenity House existed, terminally ill patients in the Lake Norman area who found themselves unable to safely live at their homes were forced to turn to other alternatives. “We are so grateful for the 15-year partnership we have had with Centre Presbyterian Church, area hospices, faith communities, civic organizations and donors, which allowed us to care for over 450 area families,” executive director Rochelle Dearman said. (Mooresville Tribune)
- The Venues at Langtree, just one mile off Interstate I-77 north of Charlotte in Mooresville, has recently been "refreshed" by a new ownership team, which reportedly has deep roots in hospitality and finance. According to Benzinga, "meeting planners will find convenience, luxury and secluded gathering options on one expansive property. The grounds encompass 16 acres and 5 distinct buildings and include 26,000 square feet of meeting space creating flexibility for gatherings of all shapes and sizes. There is even an onsite trolley to take guests to and from area hotels located less than a mile from the property."(Benzinga)

From my notebook:
- Mooresville Police Department: "We received this kind note from a resident on Tuesday. Thank you, Sergeant Koehler and Officer Kuzmunich! “These officers took the time to help a young woman whose car broke down on the exit ramp 36 in heavy traffic lane. I can say how I can say how grateful this family was to see how caring these officers were. Her husband is in his final stages of cancer and their daughter has been driving almost daily to care for them when her car broke down. We would like to recognize them for their compassionate care and safety for our community." (Mooresville Police Department via Facebook)
- Feed NC: "‘Running 2020 again.’ Charlotte food pantries struggle in surge — with less to give http://ow.ly/eEBW50JOXW3" (Feed NC via Facebook)
- Feed NC: "Our Warehouse Workforce Students just passed their first certification, earning their OSHA 10 Certifications! We are so proud of them. Please join us in congratulating Catheran and David!" (Feed NC via Facebook)
