COVID-19 In Iredell County: 23 Deaths, 2,226 Confirmed Cases
Nearly 400 Iredell County residents remain isolated in their homes with COVID-19, according to public health officials.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Iredell County's coronavirus case count rose to 2,226 cases Wednesday, an increase of 66 positive COVID-19 cases confirmed in the county since Monday, according to the Iredell County Health Department.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 23 Iredell County residents had lost their lives to coronavirus-related illness, and 12 remained hospitalized for COVID-19 illness, ICHD said. Out of the total tally of known cases in the county, 399 residents remained isolated in their homes Wednesday and an estimated 1,792 cases were assumed recovered.
Throughout the state, North Carolina reported 147,932 confirmed coronavirus cases, including 1,153 newly confirmed cases reported Aug. 19, according to data released by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

- 471 cases (up from 445 cases reported Aug. 14)
Central Region (zip codes 27013, 28166, 28677)
- 899 cases (up from 837 cases reported Aug. 14)
South Region (zip codes 28036, 28115, 28117, 28125)
- 856 cases (up from 818 cases reported Aug. 14)
Globally, more than 22 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and more than 783,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Wednesday afternoon. In the United States, more than 5.5 million people have been infected and more than 172,000 people have died from COVID-19.
