- Getting the word out that National Root Beer Float Day is August 6, A&W restaurants, Front Row Motorsports and Todd Gilliland are working together to spread the message this weekend at the Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. According to a SpeedwayMedia.com article, "The familiar look of the A&W restaurants National Root Beer Float Day Ford is back on the No. 38, but this time it is special for Todd Gilliland. His father, David, also raced the A&W Ford in 2014, also on the No. 38 Ford. “It’s awesome every time the A&W Ford comes back to the track,” said Gilliland. “The fans love this scheme and the promotion of National Root Beer Float Day. - Fitting the criteria of demonstrating a commitment to comprehensive commercial district revitalization along with a demonstrated record of successfully developing an asset-based economic development strategy, the Mooresville Downtown Commission (MDC) announced that the 501c4 organization has been designated as a Nationally Accredited Main Street America™ program, according to a Mooresville Tribune article. - Mooresville Police Department: The Mooresville Police Department hosted a pizza and ice cream party on Monday for approximately 40 community members from the MAP Class at War Memorial, Abound Health Day Program and Ignite Day Program (Autism Society of NC). The officers had a great time visiting with our guests, who enjoyed pizza and their choice of ice cream from Kool Cats. After lunch, our guests got to meet K9 Axle and his partner Officer McGahan as well as MPD’s therapy dog, Ella, and her partner Tiffany Rivera. Our guests also participated in the Ella coloring contest! Thanks to all of our great community members who attended this lunch and we hope we made a special memory for them. We really enjoyed it!
