Here are the top three stories in Mooresville today:

  1. Dr. Jason Gardner has been named the new superintendent of the Mooresville Graded School District by the Board of Education. The current interim superintendent of the Rowan-Salisbury Schools, Gardner will reportedly start his new position as soon as he is released from his current district. According to the Mooresville Tribune, "Gardner has enjoyed a long and very successful career in public education spanning more than 20 years in North Carolina. He has worked as a chief academic officer and executive director of elementary education at the Rowan-Salisbury Schools over the last six years, Gardner has played a pivotal role in helping RSS substantially improve the number of schools meeting or exceeding growth. Prior to joining RSS, Gardner spent a total of four years as a principal and assistant principal in MGSD. In addition, he previously served as a teacher and assistant principal in the Iredell-Statesville Schools. Gardner began his career in 2002 as a teacher in the Gaston County Schools. In addition to his K-12 experience, he has also worked as an adjunct professor at Catawba College and Wingate University."(Mooresville Tribune)

According to a Facebook post from the Town of Mooresville, the town will be re-paving streets in the Reed Creek Subdivision and Dry Dock Loop area during the weeks of July 12 and July 18. The Town’s paving contractor will be on-site throughout the weeks paving and directing traffic. During this time, please be mindful of the construction activities throughout the area.
