Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:

  1. Music and moonlight, what a wonderful combination. That's why the "Symphony Under the Stars” event by Lake Norman Philharmonic, which is set to take place on September 30 at Mooresville’s newest performing arts venue, Liberty Park Amphitheatre, 255 E. Iredell, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. promises to be a great time. According to the Mooresville Tribune, "this outdoor concert will feature the Lake Norman Philharmonic (LKN Phil), a registered nonprofit community orchestra founded and conducted by Maestro Eduardo Cedeño. The LKN Phil is comprised of community musicians and is open to local instrumentalists desiring to share their talent and perform orchestral music that enhances performing arts in communities surrounding the Lake Norman region." Hope to see you at the concert! (Mooresville Tribune)
  2. It's almost time for Young Athletes to start back again! Coming September 2022, there is no cost, but space is limited so please pre-register. Young Athletes is 100% inclusive and anyone with or without a disability can register. This program works on beginning sports skills, sharing and sportsmanship. To register call 704-663-7026. This program is for kids two through 7 years old. (Mooresville Chamber of Commerce)
  3. Lucy was one of over 60 of the most at-risk animals transferred to Lake Norman Humane from an over-capacity shelter. Prior to transport, Lucy was said to have been diagnosed with a hernia. She arrived with an abdominal mass larger than a grapefruit and several mammary tumors. According to a LKNH Facebook post, "Thanks to our friends at Troutman Animal Hospital, Lucy was quickly diagnosed with a massive inguinal hernia, which had allowed part of her intestines, uterus, and bladder to protrude through her abdominal wall. Perhaps the only thing more shocking than the diagnosis itself is that despite the severity of her condition, Lucy is the happiest and most loving dog you could imagine. This week Lucy will undergo major surgery to repair the damage to her abdominal wall and remove her mammary masses. Please help us see Lucy through this ordeal and consider donating towards her care today. Every amount helps! You can donate through Facebook or directly to Lake Norman Humane through the dedicated link below. Thank you for helping us save this loving girl!" https://www.paypal.com/donate/...(Mooresville Chamber of Commerce via Facebook)
