How Your Old Christmas Tree Can Help Fish, Shriners Hospital
The Lake Norman Shrine Club fundraiser underway is turning old Christmas tree into a new habitat for fish in Lake Norman.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Christmas is over, but your dry tree could help create a new fish habitat in Lake Norman while also raising money to help support sick children.
The Lake Norman Shrine Club has partnered with Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists and is sponsoring a Christmas tree pickup fundraiser to support the Shriners Hospital for Children. For a $20 donation, the club will collect your Christmas tree, which will then be placed in Lake Norman.
The fundraiser runs from Dec. 28 through Jan. 10, 2021.

"Christmas trees act as a natural habitat for fish. They protect smaller fish and allow them to eat and grow," Shrine Club member Charlie Foxx said.
According to Foxx, the trees will be deployed in the Mooresville area of Lake Norman, likely near Stutts Marina, located at 571 Stutts Road.
