Iredell County COVID-19 Death Toll Up To 29: Health Department
According to Iredell County Health Department data, at least 805 positive COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the county in August.
MOORESVILLE, NC — The number of COVID-19 cases in Iredell County jumped to 2,590 Tuesday, an increase of 51 cases in the span of one day, according the Iredell County Health Department said.
During the month of August, there were at least 805 positive COVID-19 cases confirmed in the county, according to data. As of Tuesday afternoon, 29 Iredell County residents had died from coronavirus-related illness. Throughout the U.S., more than 183,000 deaths were coronavirus related, Johns Hopkins University said Sept. 1.
The emerging presence of COVID-19 in public schools in the county has prompted Iredell-Statesville Schools to compile a weekly report after at least 12 of its schools reported positive cases last week. At eight of the schools, people considered to be close contacts were instructed to quarantine.

"We appreciate our families doing everything they can to help us keep our doors open — wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining social distancing," Boen Nutting, spokesperson for ISS, said in an email. "We are depending on our families to keep children at home if they are experiencing symptoms or have been exposed to an individual with symptoms or who is confirmed positive."

Iredell County Health Department said that 10 county residents remained hospitalized for COVID-19 illness as of Tuesday afternoon. Out of the total tally of known cases in the county, 431 residents remained isolated in their homes Tuesday and an estimated 2,120 cases were assumed recovered.
North Carolina reported 169,424 confirmed coronavirus cases in the state Tuesday, which included 2,111 newly confirmed cases, according to data released by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

Iredell County health officials are grouping cases into three regions of the county: North, Central and South. Here's a breakdown of where cases have been confirmed as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1:
North Region (zip codes 27020, 27028, 27055, 28625, 28634, 28636, 28660, 28689 and 28678)
- 545 cases (up from 533 cases reported Aug. 28)
Central Region (zip codes 27013, 28166, 28677)
- 1,057 cases (up from 1,015 cases reported Aug. 28)
South Region (zip codes 28036, 28115, 28117, 28125)
- 988 cases (up from 944 cases reported Aug. 28)
Globally, more than 25 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and more than 851,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins said Tuesday.
