Here are the top three stories in Mooresville today:

  1. When you're looking for a new home, hunting down every new listing in the area can be a wearisome endeavor. That's why we here at Patch have stepped in and done the initial work for you. Here's a sampling of the latest batch of new properties to go up for sale in the Mooresville area — including a home with 3 beds and 3 baths for $390,000, and another with 4 beds and 3 baths for $514,900. (Mooresville Patch)
  2. According to a Mooresville Graded School District newsletter, "the district will start the 2022 - 2023 school year much like it ended last year. The state has retired the StrongSchools Toolkit and any new guidance at this time will come from NCDHHS. In addition, NC General Statute (SB 654/Session Law 2021-130 Part X Sect 10) requiring all boards of education to vote on their current face covering policy each month is no longer in effect. The following guidance will be in place on August 10: Masks are not required but are recommended in certain circumstances (see below). We will not be contact tracing and close contacts will not be required to quarantine unless they are symptomatic or test positive (much like any illness). We do recommend a person who has been exposed to a positive individual get tested. If you have tested positive, stay home for five days from symptom onset and be fever free for 24 hours. We strongly recommend masking on days 6 - 10 to keep everyone healthy and in school. If you are symptomatic but did not test, you must be fever free for at least 24 hours and have improving symptoms before returning. We strongly recommend masking for 10 days from the onset of symptoms to keep everyone healthy and in school. We also recommend a person who is experiencing symptoms get tested. If you are symptomatic with a negative test, you must be fever free for at least 24 hours and have improving symptoms before returning. We strongly recommend masking for 10 days from the onset of symptoms to keep everyone healthy and in school. Remember, your school nurse is always available to assist with questions regarding COVID-19 or any other illness. Thank you!" (Mooresville Grades School District)
  3. Nicole Crotts RN, BSN, who holds a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of North Carolina, has just been named Lake Norman Regional Medical Center director of women's services. "She has been a registered nurse for more than 24 years and joins Lake Norman Regional Medical Center from Davis Regional Medical Center, where she served the Davis team for more than 20 years," according to the Mooresville Tribune. Congratulations Nicole! (Mooresville Tribune)

They are one of currently six MPD K9 teams. Intensive training ensures a tight bond between handler and dog, which helps the team protect and serve their community. Like most K9 teams, K9 Valor not only works with Corporal Beck but also lives with him and his family." (Mooresville Police Department via Facebook)
  • Feed NC: "Thank you to everyone who made our Summer Supply Drive a success! We’re still weighing and tallying numbers, but we’ll get you a final total this week!" (Feed NC via Facebook)
  • Nextdoor Neighbor, Beacon Pointe: "Not a good idea for your teens to be out wakeboarding at 10:05 at night. - We have been out on deck watching them. Parents should know this is not safe." (Nextdoor)
