Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:

  1. If you've been looking to add a four-legged ball of love and affection to your family, look no further than these Mooresville area shelters for a pet to adopt. Over 6 million companion animals are surrendered to shelters each year nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. However, only around half of all shelter pets are adopted each year, ASPCA data shows. For those looking to adopt, a great place to start the search for a lovable new companion is at Paws4adoption, where Tuesday the cat is waiting patiently, or another local rescue facility. If you aren't sure if you have time to take care of a pet year round, many shelters also offer opportunities to foster pets until they are placed in appropriate homes. (Mooresville Patch)
  2. Hope of Mooresville (HOME) will be holding its annual Fall Festival, "The Light Is Always On," Thursday, September 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brawley Estate in Mooresville. There will be live music as well as several stories of success. Your support will allow HOMe to provide temporary housing and support services to homeless women and children. Tickets are available here. (Hope Of Mooresville)
  3. Get ready to have some fun! The official and original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band, A1A, is playing the Rock the Park Summer Concert Series August 5 at 6:30 p.m.! Join everyone at Liberty Park in your best island attire for an evening of awesome music, food and fun! Food trucks open at 6 p.m. Hope to see you there!
