Here are the top three stories in Mooresville today:
- Encouraging adventure this summer, North Carolina by Train is offering a special $5 kids fare to travel the rails from Charlotte to Raleigh all summer. According to an article in the Mooresville Tribune, "stops along the corridor include High Point, Greensboro, Burlington, Durham, Cary and Raleigh. Through Aug. 31, travelers can book one-way tickets for children ages 2-12 for $5 ($10 for a round trip) with the purchase of a regular price adult ticket. The special fare is valid for travel on the Piedmont and Carolinian trains within North Carolina. There are blackout dates, tickets cannot be booked for these dates: June 17, June 22, July 1 and July 4. Use the promo code V256 when booking the tickets." (Mooresville Tribune)
- Since March 22, every Tuesday night, 12 Mooresville residents met together as part of the 2022 Mooresville Police Citizens Academy program. On June 7, at the Charles Mack Citizens Center, the graduates of the 11-week program were celebrated. According to the Iredell Free News article, the program is designed to give members of the community an opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look into the department. Participants received presentations and participated in hands-on activities including processing mock crime scenes, running simulations on the firearms training simulator, conducting mock traffic stops and more. - Volunteer this summer. Mooresville Performing Arts presents "Rock the Park" Summer Concert Series at Liberty Park Amphitheater featuring the following acts: August 5 - A1A, September 2 - 80z Nation, October 7 - The Stranger. Shows start at 6:30 p.m. and food trucks open at 6 p.m. Volunteer opportunities reportedly will include set-up, break-down, event operations, traffic control and parking monitoring. Shifts and hours vary but will be sometime between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.(Mooresville, NC)
