  1. According to the Iredell Free News article, a Mooresville Dollar General store is among the many that have been fined for excessive price-scanner errors. According to the article, "The Dollar General at 218 East Plaza Drive, Mooresville, has paid $1,320 in fines. An initial inspection in April found a 30 percent error rate based on 15 overcharges in a 50-item lot. A subsequent inspection in May found a 3.67-percent error rate. The store will be re-inspected."(Iredell Free News)
  2. Mooresville is a popular site for development. According to a WSOC Charlotte article," the Mooresville Planning Board is scheduled to continue a public hearing next week for a request by an entity named NC Land Acquisitions Mooresville LLC, town documents state. The group is seeking approval for a planned development zoning district at a 126-acre site between U.S. Highway 21 and N.C. Highway 115. The applicant is proposing a project there with 560 residential units. Documents indicate the applicant is affiliated with South Carolina-based asset management firm Land South." (WSOC Charlotte)
  3. With 25 years and 560 Cup Series races on his resume, one of Martinsville’s best-known racecar drivers, Buddy Arrington, passed away this week at the age of 84. He was reportedly one of the last independent owner-drivers in NASCAR. According to the Martinsville Bulletin, "His best finish was third at Nashville Speedway on July 31, 1965 and at Talladega Superspeedway on May 6, 1979. He ended his career in 1988 with 15 top-5s and 103 top-10 finishes. He was best known for being an “Independent” driver, racing on a shoestring budget without a big team or major sponsor. As a NASCAR owner, Arrington drove his own Chrysler for most of his career."(Martinsville Bulletin)
