Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:
- It's summertime and that means that many of you are headed on vacation. While you are away the Mooresville Police Department (MPD) wants to make sure your home and property are safe. MPD offers a Home Security Check program for Mooresville residents that is meant to be supplemental to your primary home security arrangements. According to a Facebook post from MPD, while you are away, MPD will check your residence on a random basis, looking for signs of suspicious activity, such as open doors, open or broken windows, unfamiliar cars, or other suspicious conditions. Any situation discovered by our officers that needs immediate attention will be addressed. House checks cannot exceed 14 days, must be submitted at least 10 days in advance, and homes MUST be inside town limits. Request a Home Security Check at http://mooresvillenc.gov/.../security_check_request.php" (Mooresville Police Department via Facebook)
- Are you artistic? Do you like to paint murals? Well then, the Mooresville Parks and Recreation Department needs your help to celebrate the town's 150th Birthday! According to a Facebook post from the Mooresville Park and Rec Department, "thanks to a Lowe's Hometowns Grant, the Town of Mooresville Public Arts Committee is seeking a muralist to create a large-scale mural in celebration of the Town's 150th birthday. It will run between 1,800 and 2,200 square feet depending on the site chosen and must be completed by November 18. The deadline for submission is August 7.
