Pair Nabbed At Iredell Motel Face List Of Drug Charges: Sheriff

The man and woman were apprehended with crystal meth at the Best In Town Motel in Statesville, the sheriff's office said.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A tip led to a surveillance operation and arrest for a homeless man and a Stony Point woman this week at a Statesville motel after the pair were found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

The incident occurred July 22 at the Best In Town Motel, located at 1323 West Front Street in Statesville.

According to a statement, ICSO received information that the two suspects — identified as David Ray Morgan, 48, and Anita Marie Cullen, 38 — were enroute to Statesville from Charlotte.

"The suspects were supposed to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine," ICSO said.
Narcotics investigators and deputies set up a surveillance operation near the motel, and approached Morgan and Cullen when they arrived. "After speaking with the two suspects, the deputies learned, they did indeed have crystal methamphetamine, and other controlled substances in their possession," ICSO said in a statement.

Morgan and Cullen were taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.

They were both charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver Schedule II controlled substance (crystal methamphetamine); felony possession with intent to sell or deliver Schedule III controlled substance; felony conspiracy to distribute crystal methamphetamine; misdemeanor possession of marijuana; and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Morgan's secured bond was set at $25,000, and Cullen's at $10,000, ICSO said.
