Here are the top three stories in Mooresville today:
- A special called Board of Education meeting has been scheduled for Monday, July 11, reportedly to approve the hire of the Mooresville Graded School District's new superintendent. The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the MGSD Performing Arts Center at Mooresville High School. This meeting can also be viewed via live stream on our MGSD YouTube channel. The meeting can also be accessed at this link: https://youtu.be/KctAzRTPP80. The agenda for the meeting has been posted on the MGSD website. (Parentsquare.com)
- It's election time in July and Mooresville is holding its general elections for local office on July 26, according to a WCNC.com article. The article also states that "early voting for elections is also an option. One-stop, in-person early voting opened up on July 7 and runs through 3 p.m. on July 23. For citizens who need to vote absentee, the deadline to submit the appropriate request form is July 19. Election Day for these races is also the deadline to return absentee ballots to local elections boards. In Mooresville, citizens will vote for town commissioners for wards 3 and 4. There are two candidates in Ward 3: Tommy DeWeese and Kevin Kasel. In Ward 4, Lisa M. Qualls is the only one running." Get out and vote, it's your right! (WCNC.com)
- According to an article in corneliustoday.com North Carolina rescues are experiencing what is being called a "code red," meaning that there is currently an over abundance of animals in need of homes throughout the state. Right here in Mooresville, at Lake Norman Humane, 65 at-risk animals were reportedly transferred in from nine agencies in the month of June alone. Your help is urgently needed. Please adopt an animal if you can. According to the corneliustoday.com article, "if you are unable to adopt, consider becoming a lifesaving foster family. Providing a temporary foster home opens another space at the shelter for an animal in need. More info on fostering and a foster application can be found at Foster. And, if you are unable to adopt or foster, but would like to help, a donation of any amount is appreciated beyond words. You can make a one-time or monthly lifesaving donation at Donate."
