Teacher Charged With Taking Indecent Liberties With Student
Elizabeth Lee Wright, 30, was charged with felony taking indecent liberties with an Iredell County student, the sheriff's office said.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — An Iredell County math teacher was arrested and charged with felony taking indecent liberties with a student by a teacher, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office said Monday.
Iredell-Statesville School System filed a report with the sheriff's office Aug. 14 after receiving a report from a parent who had discovered inappropriate social media communications between her child and Elizabeth Lee Wright, 30 and of Statesville.
Wright is currently a math teacher at Agriculture and Science Early College, and previously served as a math teacher at North Iredell Middle School from 2012 through 2017.

"It came is as suspicious activity and was assigned to our Special Victims Unit for follow up." Major William Hamby of the Iredell County Sheriff's Office told Patch in an email last week.
An investigator with the sheriff's department conducted several interviews with witnesses, executed search warrants and gathered other evidence, the sheriff's office said in a statement Aug. 24.

Wright was arrested Aug. 21, and charged with felony taking liberties with a student by a teacher. She was issued a $3,000 secured bond.
