Winter Weather Prompts School Decision in Iredell County: Details
Iredell-Statesville Schools made a decision about school Wednesday as the region prepares of possible winter weather.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — Iredell-Statesville Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for students and staff Wednesday, it announced Tuesday evening.
"Due to expected icy conditions tomorrow, we will operate on a two-hour delay for students and staff on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. I-SS employees should refer to option #5 on the Inclement Weather Procedures portion of our website," the school district said.
High School students who have scheduled exams tomorrow were instructed to wait for direction from their individual schools.

The two-hour delay is for all students, including those students who are attending school virtually, ISS said.

According to the National Weather Service, the region will likely see wintry weather around daybreak and continuing throughout the morning.
"With temperatures expected to be hovering around the freezing mark, a brief period of freezing rain will be possible, mainly north of I-85," NWS said in a hazardous weather outlook bulletin. "Any ice accumulation should be very light and limited to elevated surfaces."
