Here are the top stories in Raleigh today:

  1. Two new upscale establishments are making their debut in the Raleigh area, with Austin-based brand Tecovas holding a multi-day grand opening beginning today and ending on Sunday, Jul. 2, and barbershop Boardroom Styling Lounge having just completed its ribbon-cutting nearby in Cary. Tecovas' new North Hills location is its 29th across the United States and second in North Carolina, and Boardroom Styling is making its Cary debut with store No. 46. (Subscription: News & Observer)
  2. WRAL is aiming to shed some light on the real estate profession and keep realtors and would-be realtors in the know regarding how to obtain and maintain a realtor license. In short, realtors should know the rules set forth by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC); know the threats to their license from common mistakes or possible malpractice; understand how the market can affect their license; recognize how common corner-cutting practices may endanger their licenses; and know their rights when dealing with the NCREC and other local, municipal, state, and federal regulatory agencies. (WRAL)
  3. Raleigh police are seeking a suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred early the morning of Thursday, Jun. 29. Around 12:05 a.m., officers responded to a call in the vicinity of Louisburg Road and Dansey Drive in northeastern Raleigh following a vehicular chase begun by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Officers spotted the suspect vehicle on Tapers Drive, and the driver fled toward Courtney Lane, where he was pursued on foot; according to authorities, the suspect fired a weapon at the officer before fleeing. Anyone who may have more information is asked to reach out to Crimestoppers online or call 919-996-1193 to offer a tip. (CBS 17)
