Here are the top stories in Raleigh today:
- A house fire Thursday afternoon has displaced a family in the 5100 block of Windmere Chase Drive. No people were hurt in the fire, but at press time, only two of the four family cats were accounted for. The fire is under investigation. (CBS17.com)
- In an effort to combat the lack of affordable housing options in the area, Habitat for Humanity is building a new 105 home community in southeast Raleigh off Old Poole Road. It will consist of 60 single-family homes and 45 townhomes. According to CBS17.com, "Hundreds of helpers come to the site each week to lend a hand, including volunteers, churches, businesses and organizations. It also includes future Habitat homeowners who are earning their required 200 sweat equity hours."(CBS17.com)
- Mark your calendars for the NC Hops Festival, which will take place on Saturday June 24, at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. The event will include live music, local vendors to shop, and food trucks. Beverage sampling includes NC beer, cider, and seltzers.
Entry tickets will allow patrons to sip and shop away. A limited number of VIP tickets will be sold. Hope to see you there! (all events)
