Her AC Restaurants group will now focus on Poole’s Diner and Death & Taxes while hoping a new concept eventually fills the corner spot.

2. Raleigh warns drivers of fake QR codes on downtown parking meters (newsobserver.com) — If you park downtown in Raleigh, watch out for fake QR codes that scammers have stuck on street meters to steal your payment or personal information. City staff are inspecting meters, urging drivers to use official meters or the Passport app, and asking residents to report any suspicious signage while free deck parking continues at select garages.

Wilmington community hold meeting to address issue of water possibly being taken out of the Cape Fear River (wwaytv3.com) — State officials in Raleigh are weighing a request from Fuquay-Varina to pull millions of gallons daily from the Cape Fear River and send it to the Neuse, without returning treated water to Cape Fear. Wilmington-area leaders warn this could strain supplies, hurt drought resilience, and impact economic growth, and they’re urging residents statewide to contact Raleigh regulators before the Feb. 1 comment deadline.
