1. 3 seriously hurt in shooting in North Carolina (myfox8.com) — Three people were seriously injured in a Tuesday night shooting at a mobile home community off Moonglow Drive in eastern Wake County, just outside Raleigh. Deputies found two victims at the scene and learned a third had been driven to the hospital, and investigators are still working to determine what led to the gunfire in a neighborhood previously hit by a summer shootout.
   

2. Booking last-minute holiday travel? Watch out for these scams (cbs17.com) — If you’re flying through Raleigh-Durham International Airport this holiday season, officials say to stay alert for travel scams, especially on last-minute bookings. Federal regulators warn about fake “free” vacations, lookalike booking sites, bogus rentals, and high-pressure offers that demand wire transfers or gift cards, and encourage victims to report suspicious deals.
   

3. North Carolina joins lawsuit to maintain Consumer Financial Protection Bureau funding (cbs17.com) — North Carolina’s attorney general, based in Raleigh, has joined a multistate lawsuit to keep the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau funded, arguing a federal official unlawfully blocked its money. State leaders say the CFPB could run out of cash in January, threatening a key watchdog that’s returned billions to consumers nationwide, including many in the Triangle.
   

4. Some student loan borrowers could see wages garnished starting in early 2026: 'Hit where it hurts' (abc11.com) — Raleigh borrowers who’ve fallen far behind on federal student loans could see their wages garnished as early as January 2026, with notices going out to about 1,000 people nationwide and growing monthly. Experts interviewed in Raleigh urge residents to contact their servicers now about rehabilitation, consolidation, or income-driven plans, warning that garnishment often costs more than regular payments and could strain local household budgets and spending.
   

5.
