- Raleigh resident Travis Davis had a lucky day recently when he won $1 million on a $10 scratch-off ticket he purchased from Five Points Family Fare on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh. After the excitement of winning died down, Davis had a big decision to make, take a lump sum of $600,000 or take a payment of $50,000 a year for the next 20 years? What would you do? Davis took the lump sum, which after taxes equated to $ $427,503. Congratulations Travis! (WRAL News)
- You are invited to Central Park this Sunday, June 4, for Durham's second annual World Hunger Day. The event, which will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. will include information and resources related to food insecurity in the area and showcase the great work organizations are doing around food equity. Come and celebrate! There will be a number of food trucks, a bounce house, free snacks, performances, giveaways and more. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and join in the fun! (WTVD-TV)
- A stabbing took place early Friday morning at a Han-Dee Hugo's on the 2500 block of South Saunders Street. According to CBS17.com, officers were called out to the incident at 2:24 a.m. "When they arrived, they said they found a man suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to the hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries, according to the police department.
Officers said no arrests have been made. They said there is no ongoing threat to the public." (CBS17.com)
