• Tarboro wins 11th state championship, Kinston drops high-scoring title match to Shelby (wcti12.com) — Tarboro High’s Vikings capped a perfect season by shutting out Murphy 22-0 in Hickory to claim the program’s 11th state football championship, powered by three second-half touchdowns from senior Kamerin McDowell-Moore. In another title game, Kinston’s record-breaking night from receiver Tyreek Copper wasn’t enough to stop Shelby’s explosive offense in an 84-41 loss.
