As we approach this holiday season, what are you thankful for?

I moved here knowing no one. I had a heart attack 6 months after moving here. An aerobics class at the Cardiac Gym welcomed me into their group with open arms to help allay my fears for the future. My neighbors became family, especially during the pandemic. We shared holiday dinners, birthday celebrations, dinner-and-a-movie nights, and backyard barbeques. All were welcoming activities in a very dark time. I also found a wonderful, progressive group called Women Organizing for Wilmington. We are activists for women's issues from helping to expose the damage to our drinking water, to education inequities in our schools, to organizing Women's Marches and rallies, and providing assistance to other groups wishing to organize a march or rally. We are truly a sisterhood providing support to each other when help is needed for personal issues with health family, and any personal issue that may arise. I am thankful for them all.
