- The Wilmington Police Department arrested 21-year-old Jameal Chavis earlier this week after locating more than 700 grams of marijuana that belonged to him. This all happened after a shooting incident occurred on Burnett Boulevard and the police recovered a black Dodge Charger nearby; after authorities issued a search warrant, the vehicle and residence were both searched. Chavis was found shortly after the search in a vehicle on Market Street and was arrested without incident. He is currently being held at NHCSO Detention Center without bond and has been charged with several different drug charges. (WWAY NewsChannel 3)
- Last Saturday, the Wilmington Fire Department responded to Sportsman Warehouse after a child was unintentionally locked in a gun safe. According to reports, the child's sister accidentally locked the child in the safe at the store and firefighters had to cut the hinges off of the door. Thankfully, the child locked in the safe was unharmed throughout the incident. (WECT)
