  1. Although there were talks earlier this year about professional soccer returning to Wilmington, these plans may be postponed as other details are being worked on. Though the goal is to have the soccer team play their home contests at Legion Stadium, details still need to be fully finalized, in addition to a local investor group taking on the team. If you want more information regarding updates on the team, as well as an interview with Chris Mumford who is a member of the USL to Wilmington group, you can click here. (WWAY NewsChannel 3)
  2. The Wilmington Police Department is inviting members of the community and their families to attend its annual Demo Day on Jun. 13. The family-friendly tradition is well known for the opportunities it brings to meet members of the police department and see all the equipment they use to keep the community safe. The event will be held at the Wilmington Police Department HQ at 615 Bess Street in Wilmington and the event will be running from 9:00-10:00 a.m. (WECT)
  3. Earlier this week, the North Carolina DMV Commissioner, Wayne Goodwin, announced some of his goals around bettering customer service in the DMV, such as returning Saturday hours to 16 offices throughout the state, including Wilmington. Starting this Saturday, the Wilmington DMV located at 2390 Carolina Beach Road, Suite 104 in South Square Plaza will be open from 8:00 a.m. to noon every Saturday in addition to 15 other locations throughout the state. The commissioner is hoping the additional hours on Saturdays at the busiest locations will provide better service to customers. Saturday hours will be going on until Aug. 26. (WWAY NewsChannel 3)
