From my notebook:

  • Last week at the A Day in the Life Luncheon, Corporal Gene Moore was recognized as A Safe Place Law Enforcement Partner of the Year! His consistency in serving the community and building relationships between organizations and law enforcement has gained recognition and helped him achieve this title. (New Hanover County Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
  • New Hanover County Schools is hosting a summer program for newcomers coming into their first or second year in U.S. schools. This program is meant to give international students an advantage ahead of the 2023-2024 school year and begin developing skills in the English language so they are not behind when class is back in session. (New Hanover County Schools via Facebook)
  • A reminder from the Wilmington Police Department ahead of the holiday weekend: In 2021, 212 people were killed nationwide in drunk-driving crashes. It is never worth it to get behind the wheel when under the influence, you can use ride-share services, call a taxi, or a sober friend, any option other than jeopardizing your life and the lives of others. (Wilmington, NC Police Department via Facebook)

That's it for today! I'll see you soon.
