• Foundation YMCA receives $1,800 Food Lion grant (wilsontimes.com) — Students in the Foundation YMCA of Wilson’s Y-Gig Middle School after-school program will soon get more healthy snacks, thanks to a new $1,800 grant from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation. YMCA leaders say the funding will provide critical nutrition that helps kids stay focused through evening learning, fitness, and enrichment activities.
   

• Documentary details fight for John McNeil's freedom (wilsontimes.com) — Wilson native John McNeil’s long fight for freedom after a Georgia self-defense conviction is now the focus of a new documentary, “Breathe Freedom,” shaped with major help from Wilson leaders and residents. Locals can see the film, meet McNeil and the filmmakers, and join a Q&A at the Edna Boykin Cultural Center on Saturday, Dec. 20.
