Here are the top three stories today in Winston-Salem:
- The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School District has released a new policy called "Code of Character, Conduct and Support." The code is part of the school district's strategy to maintain a safe and inclusive school environment by documenting all behavior of misconduct and ensuring it receives proper follow-up. (WXII12 Winston-Salem)
- The Forsyth Medical Center will be making temporary traffic adjustments as it continues construction on its critical care tower. The Hawthorne Road entrance will be temporarily closed from Monday, Mar. 6 to Friday, Mar. 10. In the meantime, the Silas Creek Parkway will remain open for regular patients and visitors while the Hanes Mall Boulevard entrance will serve those seeking emergency services. (Winston-Salem Journal)
- Winston-Salem officials have reported that most businesses and multi-family residential buildings are adhering to a relatively new ordinance that bans the use of pine straw and other highly flammable material that is sometimes used as ground cover. The ordinance was voted into effect by the Winston-Salem City Council in November 2021, but it was not enforced for a full year. (Winston-Salem Journal)
