Here are the top three stories in Winston-Salem today:
- Amber Laudicina, who has a rare disease called Dysautonomia and was training her service dog Koda in a Harris Teeter on Mar. 3, had a seizure, and employee Regina Mitchell came to her aid. Laudicina later launched a GoFundMe campaign and raised over $2,000 for Mitchell, who had helped her during the emergency. Laudicina delivered the funds to Mitchell, who was in complete shock and had no idea that Amber was going to donate the money to her. (WXII12 Winston-Salem)
- Jason Efren Cisneros Olmedo, 19, was arrested on Tuesday as the second teen involved in a fatal shooting that occurred early in the morning on Burke Street on Feb. 27. Winston-Salem police received multiple calls around 2 a.m. about a shooting and a large fight by Gatsby Pub where 35-year-old Quante Donnell Wilder was killed. Nehemiah Chandler was already identified as a suspect, taken into custody, and charged with murder. Since then, Cisneros Olmedo was also arrested and taken to Forsyth County Detention Center where he is joining Chandler while the investigation goes on; both are being held with no bond. - "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Simon Stephens will be coming to Hanesbrand Theatre on Mar. 24-26 and Mar. 30 through Apr. 2. The play, based on the novel written by Mark Haddon, follows a 15-year-old neurodivergent finding his way in life before being accused of killing his neighbor's dog; he then searches for the true culprit.
