- Winston-Salem State University alumni Mila Thomas has made a name for herself being a big-time make-up artist for celebrities on the biggest stages. Thomas was recognized by Essence magazine as being featured on their "9 Black Celebrity Make-Up Artists You Should Know" list, she has worked with clients including Nicki Minaj, Issa Rae, and Mary J. Blige. What started off as a part-time job and hobby as a child has become a rewarding career for Thomas that she never imagined reaching. (Winston-Salem Journal)
- A Winston-Salem police officer hit a 57-year-old pedestrian with his patrol car overnight this past weekend. It was reported that the pedestrian was attempting to cross Waughtown Street when the officer hit him with his passenger side-view mirror, the officer said the individual was not using the crosswalk. The pedestrian suffered a serious lower leg injury, and the story is still developing. (WXII12 Winston-Salem)
- A coalition of groups from Winston-Salem combined their money to purchase a large warehouse from High Point this past week. The industrial building was purchased for $502,000 at 2501 Mendenhall Road, and the warehouse is 8,800 square feet. The BW Group LLC of Archdale was sold to the coalition of LCJ Initiative, Wright Investments LLC, Abstract Circle LLC, and Mendenhall Partners. (Winston-Salem Journal)
