Here are the top three stories in Winston-Salem today:

  1. On Saturday night, a short police chase involving two infant children in the car took place in Winston-Salem. Mario Perez Olmedo was pulled over by state troopers on Silas Creek Parkway and it was determined he was driving while impaired. According to investigators, Olmedo refused to leave his vehicle and drove away attempting to elude officers. A chase ensued for around seven minutes before a rolling roadblock stopped him near US 421 on Marshall Street. In the vehicle were another person and two infants; Olmedo has received several charges, and no injuries have been reported. (WGHP FOX8 Greensboro)
  2. This past Saturday, Wake Forest students participated in their yearly Wake 'N Shake event where students stand and move for 12 hours to raise money for cancer research. This year's event was a huge success with students raising $248,234.50 from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. The event started in 2006 with 300 students raising over $30,000 in the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund, in honor of the former All-American football player who passed away of cancer at the age of 26.
