Great River Connections Academy Opens Enrollment for 2023-24

Trusted public online school to enter fifth year serving Ohio students statewide in a virtual classroom

Great River Connections Academy (GRCA), a tuition-free, full-time K-12 virtual school, officially opened enrollment for the 2023-24 academic year and offers families opportunities to learn more about the trusted online program and learning in a virtual classroom.

Learning from home or anywhere there is an Internet connection, Great River Connections Academy provides students an online education that is tailored to their individual needs. The combination of state-certified teachers focused on academics and helping to build fundamental life skills, a proven curriculum and a nurturing, safe academic environment prepares students to thrive in a changing world.

Great River Connections Academy currently serves hundreds of students from all over the state who have a variety of needs. Some require more schedule flexibility due to health issues or activities outside of school. Other students benefit from the ability to work at their own individual pace with learning plans tailored to match their interests and capabilities. Through the personal, one-on-one attention they receive from Great River Connections Academy teachers, students stay motivated and engaged.

“Our online school serves a unique population of students, and I’m grateful parents and caretakers in Ohio have found this highly individualized learning environment empowers their children to succeed,” said Jason Swinehart, Great River Connections Academy School Leader. “We are excited and proud to continue providing our students the opportunity to thrive academically and grow into well-rounded, confident adults.”

When the COVID pandemic forced brick-and-mortar schools throughout the state to switch to emergency remote learning in 2020, Braden McNamara of Delaware, Ohio discovered he liked learning online more than he did in a traditional classroom setting. When the 2021-2022 academic year was about to start and schools were going back to in-person instruction, Braden wanted to continue working in the virtual classroom. He decided to enroll in Great River Connections Academy.

“Being able to do schoolwork when and wherever I have Wi-Fi is great,” Braden said. “I do a lot of traveling, and being able to keep up with my school at the same time is extremely helpful.”

Great River Connections Academy enrollment is now open for the 2023-24 school year for students in grades K-12 across Ohio.
