Man Captured On Camera Trying To Abduct Girl From Her Own Yard: Report

HAMILTON, OH — A surveillance camera captured a man assaulting a 6-year-old and attempting to abduct her outside her Ohio home, The Washington Post reported.

In the video, published by the Post, the girl is bending over next to a trash can when a man walking by gropes her and grabs her as she tries to run. The man briefly pulls the girl by the arm, but when she screams, he lets her go and she flees while he walks away, the video shows.

The man in the video is Deric N. McPherson, according to The Post, which reported the incident occurred Aug. 23 in Hamilton after the girl went outside to throw out some boxes. When she told her parents what happened, they chased McPherson, first on foot and then in a car, eventually cornering him with 911 on the phone, The Post reported.

McPherson, 33, is in Butler County jail on charges of abduction and gross sexual imposition on a victim younger than 13, both of which are third-degree felonies, according to jail records, which list McPherson's bail as $17,500.
