Man Stung 20,000 Times By Bees While Doing Yard Work
The man also swallowed about 30 bees, which had to be suctioned out of him, after he accidentally cut into a nest, according to reports.
RIPLEY, OH — A man was hospitalized after being stung more than 20,000 times by bees while doing yard work in Ohio, according to reports.
Austin Bellamy, 20, was working on a tree Saturday when he cut into a bee’s nest and was attacked by the insects, according to a GoFundMe page started by his mother, Shawna Carter, to cover expenses associated with the incident. Carter said her son is “currently on a ventilator and fighting for his life.”
Bellamy’s uncle and grandmother saw the bees stinging him but were surrounded by bees themselves and unable to help, according to WXIX, which reported the attack happened in Ripley.

“It looked like he had a black blanket on his head down to his neck, down to his arms,” Carter told WXIX.
Bellamy was in a medically induced coma as of Tuesday night at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to WXIX, which reported that he swallowed about 30 bees that had to be suctioned out of him, but that he is expected to make a full recovery.
