ACROSS OHIO — The Cuyahoga River is really long. It covers 100 miles; its watershed drains 809 square miles; and six counties share its watershed. Basically, no one can go anywhere in Northeast Ohio without the famous river being close by, and some Clevelanders might tend to forget the beauty of the river since it is everywhere. Not Brett Pucillo of Kent. He took a gorgeous photo of the water, plus some Cleveland history.

Pucillo snapped the picture from the Riveredge Trail in Kent in early April. The water sparkles and shines as it crashes over rocks. The rocks provide a little bank on one side, but on the other the natural setting of the landscape with trees is interrupted by buildings. Pucillo crafted a composition with juxtaposition of natural and industrial as the looming buildings pull for attention in the photo.

One of these buildings is Kent's old flour mill that brings Cleveland history into the mix. Originally known as the Williams Brothers Mill, the Star of the West flour mill is still operational and has been since 1879. Wow, what an interesting combination of elements to capture all at once.
