'Terrific': Wendy's Debuts Long-Awaited Strawberry Frosty

DUBLIN, OH — Wendy's fans, rejoice! Your summer just got berry sweet.

The fast food giant, based in Dublin, Ohio, announced Monday it's offering a Strawberry Frosty for a limited time and bringing back the seasonal Summer Strawberry Chicken Salad.

That's right — whether you're a Frosty purist or someone who likes to dip your fries in it the strawberry Frosty is coming to Wendy's, as the restaurant said it's putting a summer spin on the popular frozen treat.

Carl Loredo, chief marketing officer for The Wendy's Company, said the new addition comes directly from customer feedback.

"We're always listening to our fans and as the most-requested item, it was a no-brainer for us to bring the Strawberry Frosty to the menu this season," Loredo said in a news release.

He also took a shot at a competitor, whose faulty ice cream machines are often the source of social media frustration.

"While some of our competitors are still trying to get their ice cream machines to work, fans can dip into this new strawberry treat all summer long at Wendy's."

Meanwhile, for those looking for more green with their strawberry can try the Summer Strawberry Chicken Salad. The salad comes with sun-ripened, freshly sliced strawberries, Applewood smoked bacon and grilled chicken atop a bed of lettuce and spring mix. An Italian cheese blend, candied almonds and a Champagne vinaigrette top the salad.

"As the only hamburger QSR to offer craft salads, we know a thing or two about what fans look for in a salad, and the Summer Strawberry Chicken Salad delivers on our promise for fresh, real and flavorful salads," said John Li, vice president of culinary innovation for The Wendy's Company. "This summertime blend brings forward fresh, sweet and nutty notes that deliver a flavor explosion in every bite."

Customers can buy a Strawberry Frosty and Summer Strawberry Chicken Salad through the Wendy's app or in-restaurant now through July 3. Those who buy a salad in the app can also get a free small fry.

Fans took to social media to express their excitement over the Strawberry Frosty.

"Strawberry frosty boutta smack harder than will smith at the Oscar's," one fan tweeted.

"Wendy’s strawberry frosty fireeeee," tweeted another fan.

Bill Oakley, a television writer and producer known for his work on "The Simpsons" — and who describes himself as “The Gordon Ramsay of Fast Food" — praised the treat.

"The new Wendy’s Strawberry Frosty is terrific, so creamy and strawberry-y," he tweeted. I mean there are no surprises but it delivers 100% and does not taste fake at all. Serious Steamie Award contender!"
